The Beach House
The design of this new house in a beachfront community looks to the past for inspiration in creating a home for living at the beach in today's world. The owners use the house extensively in the summer for extended family and social gatherings. With frequent guests, they wanted both a private area and guest area with a large deck tying the two together. The design reflects the Shingle Style, a late 1800's style distinctive to the New England coast. Capturing the spectacular ocean views lead to incorporating two observation towers, one for the owners' private wing and one for the guest wing. The space created between wings creates the common deck for all those enjoying the beach.
